BaxterStorey supports FEED NHS campaign

BaxterStorey teams join up to provide over 120,000 free meals to NHS hospitals and local communities during lockdown.

In these challenging times we have all seen the incredible work and dedication of heroic front-line NHS staff. We have also seen our industry come together in an extraordinary way to provide support, and BaxterStorey teams across the UK have been working tirelessly to provide over 120,000 free meals to NHS hospitals, food banks, emergency and community centres.

With a background in creating fresh, nutritious food, our skilled teams have been volunteering their time to work from specially opened kitchens across the UK, using their specific skills and expertise.

Launched by LEON Founder, John Vincent and actors Damian Lewis, Helen McCrory and Matt Lucas, FeedNHS is a campaign aimed at delivering meals to NHS teams on the front line, many of whom have little access to nutritious food on a 12-hour shift.

BaxterStorey teamed up with FeedNHS and Mealforce, providing a central coordination role for the FeedNHS campaign. Our amazing teams up and down the UK have been working to develop menus and create nutritious meals and through the BaxterStorey Foundation, supplying 40,000 free meals every day to NHS staff across 90 hospitals.

Our clients have shown their tremendous support. Royal Bank of Scotland provided us with the space to develop over 28,000 meals for NHS staff across Edinburgh and the Lothians. Edinburgh and Lothians Health Foundation expressed their gratitude, saying: “We were conscious of the huge outpouring of support from the public for acute hospitals, but you were ready to recognise the equally extraordinary efforts of our community health staff in responding to COVID-19, and to add to the order filling the Hub in a Tub boxes with deliciousness for the district nurses and community health teams.”

NHS Grampian received 2,000 free meals, all prepared in kitchens provided generously by Halliburton. The service enabled those working on COVID wards and teams providing essential social care in the community access to fresh and healthy food when out of hours catering is not available.

In Slough, BaxterStorey teams worked from the WePrepare kitchens to produce over 81,000 meals which were delivered to hospitals including the Royal Marsden, St George’s, Basingstoke and North Hampshire, Kings College, and Nightingale, ExCel. HRH the Countess of Wessex made a surprise visit to the production kitchen to help the team produce delicious meals for NHS hospitals.

The BaxterStorey London Food Team have been delivering food first aid kits direct from their homes. The team of six have been lifting the spirits of front-line staff across London, Essex, Hampshire and Surrey, delivering 11,000 fresh meals to emergency and community centres, NHS hospitals and food banks.

We are immensely proud of our teams across the UK and are honoured to be providing much needed support to our NHS. We have received a huge number of messages of support, including from Matt Lucas, Damian Lewis and Helen McCrory.
Great food is what BaxterStorey does best and the support from our clients and colleagues has enabled us to increase the volume of free meals available to heroic front-line staff.
