I’m now going into my eighth year working with BaxterStorey and feel lucky to have experienced so many exciting and rewarding opportunities in my time with the company. I joined on BaxterStorey’s Graduate programme and had a great insight into all aspects of the business during the nine-month programme, covering hospitality and events, mobilisations of new contracts, the launch of new food concepts and even farm visits to see where we source some of our fantastic produce.
Soon after I was offered an assistant manager role. I learnt so much in that year and was excited to be given the chance to stamp my mark and share my ideas on taking the business forward. I then progressed into various manager and operation support manager roles whilst being supported and guided by the most incredible mentor who I now call one of my best friends!
During my time with BaxterStorey, I’ve felt incredibly lucky to have been exposed to so many amazing opportunities, but also people. From serving royalty a three-course dinner to serving 20,000 Christmas dinners to associates, I can say that no day is the same! In 2016 I was nominated by my team as ‘rising star’ at the first ever BaxterStorey Awards and then in 2020, I was an Acorn Scholarship finalist.
Fast forward seven years from my first management role and I am now a fully-fledged operations manager operating several large 24/7 contracts in the central region. One of the reasons I enjoy my job so much is because I love coaching and motivating my team and giving them the confidence to succeed and achieve their goals. Training and development is extremely important to me especially given how I started out. As a business we have opportunities for everyone. I have just completed my Level 5 Operations Management Apprenticeship so where there is an opportunity to learn, it’s never too late to start your career journey in hospitality.
