BaxterStorey training programmes recognised with industry award

We were delighted to be crowned Talent Development Team of the Year at the renowned Institute of Hospitality Awards.

The winners were announced at the black-tie dinner and ceremony on Tuesday 19th June at the Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge in London. Fighting off stiff competition from some of the finest hospitality professionals, we were praised for our innovative approach to training and development through our award-winning academies and broad range of bespoke training programmes.

We have seen significant activity across our training and development division, including the launch of our Barista Academy and a record number of applications for our established Graduate Programme. Now in its seventh year, we receive over 500 applications from hospitality graduates every year.

Headed up by Sharon Daniel, Talent Manager and supported by Stephanie Cadogan, People Development Manager, the scheme takes a personal approach, supported with the appropriate training and experiential development.

One programme recognised by the judges was our newest training initiative; the Service Academy. The first of its kind within the hospitality industry, the programme was designed to ensure hospitality staff across our business are equipped to provide the highest levels of service, matching the skillsets of those offering top-level service outside the food service sector. The training team includes Acorn Award winner Gabrielle Le Roux, who is responsible for developing the Service Academy.

Commenting on our team’s success,  Co-Chief Executive Noel Mahony said: “This is an incredible achievement for our Learning and Development team and recognition of the impact they have across our business.

“Training is the foundation of our business. There is immense value in giving our staff the opportunity to develop their skills at any stage of their career, from our Graduate Programme to our Advanced Management Journey. With a wealth of career opportunities available across the sector, we hope our training schemes help to showcase what our great industry has to offer”.
