Winchester Cathedral refectory hosted an evening for those that love all things gin! The unique dinner combined the flavours of locally sourced ingredients, with hand-crafted gins made from Winchester Distillery’s finest botanicals.
Head chef Josh Malone and Winchester Distillery created a delicious four course menu, showcasing the best of British produce.
Guests enjoyed a gin and tonic on arrival and the opportunity to learn more about the aromatic local gins from Winchester Distillery’s resident blender ahead of the dinner.
Served to thirty guests in the traditional Paul Woodhouse Suite, the dishes included:
Twisted Nose Watercress gin and tonic cured trout, lemon gel, caviar, sea herbs and sourdough crumble
Haunch of Venison, pomme puree, honey glazed carrots, Winchester Dry gin and juniper red wine reduction
Warm roasted beetroot, fennel hazelnut and chicory salad, Winchester Dry gin vinaigrette (V)
Gin and lime chocolate petit four, popping candy and edible flowers
Glazed lemon tart, mint sherbet, crushed meringue and Hampshire Fine Gin granita
Head Chef Josh Malone said: “It was a pleasure working with Winchester Distillery to create such a unique event for our customers. Having the opportunity to showcase the skills of our chefs and celebrating local produce was great fun. I learnt a lot about gin too!”
