Nineteen of our graduates have celebrated their success at a graduation presentation held at Brigade Bar + Kitchen in London Bridge.
Since its launch in 2011, we have taken over 110 graduates through the programme. The Graduate Programme receives over 500 applications each year and helps university graduates enter the industry, launching their career within an exciting business, with a view to developing them into confident and creative managers.
Nine months of training saw our graduates working in departments across the business including HR, finance, kitchen management and nutrition, gaining hands on experience in our kitchens, restaurants and head offices.
Our graduates have worked on some exciting projects including new business mobilisations, assisting at our food festivals, supplier visits and food concept launches. Guided by their senior operations team and the learning and development team, the graduates have all secured managerial roles in the business.
Commenting on the graduates’ success, BaxterStorey co-chief executive John Bennett said: “Training is the foundation of our business and we see the value in promoting opportunities to attract young talent into the hospitality sector. We are incredibly proud of all our graduates that have achieved success through this year’s programme, demonstrating their enthusiasm and dedication to this industry.
“Since the programme started, we are now seeing senior managers of the business coming from the graduate programme. Having had a chance to chat to some of them tonight, I’m sure they are going to become the stars of the future. We look forward to following their career journey and seeing the creativity and innovation they bring to our business”.
Graduate Matthew Bolam said: “I joined BaxterStorey with an open mind not knowing much about WSH, but I can honestly say I have had the most enjoyable nine months. The Graduate Programme is a fast-paced, exciting, hands on experience. I’ve met great people, made friends for life and had the most amazing support network, from my operations team and mentor Stephanie Cadogan. Now I’ve joined the team at Brigade Bar + Kitchen as Bar/Deputy Manager, I have a job I love waking up to. I would thoroughly recommend the programme to anyone with a passion for great food, great people and great opportunities”.
