BaxterStorey Rising Star Wins HR in Hospitality Award

Our talented people advisor Louise Wheatley was crowned Rising Star at the renowned HR in Hospitality Awards, held at a black-tie dinner and ceremony at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park.

The judges were impressed by Louise’s role in delivering large scale TUPE transfers of 175 team members, across ten locations. Louise also took it upon herself to introduce a people activity tracker to ensure all people challenges were captured and managed effectively.

Commenting on her win, Louise said: “I was so surprised to hear my name called out as the winner. To achieve this award at the start of my career is amazing and I am so grateful to my team for nominating me.

“In HR, no one day is the same and every day brings a new challenge. It’s a very rewarding career, knowing I’m supporting our teams each in different situations. This past year I have worked hard to complete my CIPD qualification, which I’ve really enjoyed studying for, so I’m looking forward to where that takes me in 2020.”

Louise joined the WSH Group in 2015 as an HR apprentice, with our sister brand Holroyd Howe. In 2018, following the completion of her HR Apprenticeship, Louise transferred to Baxterstorey as a people advisor and has never looked back.

Supporting Louise through her successes, head of people operations Central, South West and groups, James Ettridge said: “To be recognised by the industry for her contribution to our business is an incredible achievement for Louise, one that is so thoroughly deserved. At BaxterStorey, we strongly believe in the importance of nurturing talent and we have enjoyed seeing Louise celebrate her successes. After all, it is our dedicated people that enable us to deliver the very best levels of service”.
