Silver ERS Presentation

We are honoured to have received the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award, recognising our commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community.

The award was presented at Admiralty House within HM Naval Base Portsmouth by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, Nigel Atkinson, and celebrates employers that go above and beyond to support veterans, reservists, military families and cadet force adult volunteers.

This recognition reflects the work we’ve been doing to create opportunities for members of the Armed Forces community through dedicated recruitment pathways, inclusive policies, volunteering initiatives and charity partnerships.

Camilla Howard, operations director (sales) said: “On behalf of BaxterStorey, I was delighted to receive the Silver ERS award. As one of many veterans within the business, it’s particularly rewarding to see our commitment to the Armed Forces community recognised, from supporting forces charities through our many volunteering days, to dedicated recruitment pathways and industry-leading policies”.

As well as supporting the wider Armed Forces community, our internal Armed Forces network connects veterans, reservists, cadets and military families across the business, creating a strong sense of belonging and support for team members with military connections.

The award rounded off a fantastic Armed Forces Week celebration for our teams. Throughout the week, teams came together to support Veterans Aid and its community, including hosting a charity lunch and bread-making workshop where ex-homeless veterans learned how to make soda bread and pinch-back loaves. The bread they baked was served at lunch, with participants leaving with new skills and the confidence to recreate the recipes at home.

Across the business, teams also marked Armed Forces Day by decorating serveries and celebrating the people who serve and have served in the Armed Forces. Our chefs joined in with a friendly bake-off challenge, creating plaited bread loaves inspired by the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force.

Receiving the Silver Award is a significant milestone, but more importantly, it’s recognition of our ongoing commitment to supporting, celebrating and creating opportunities for the Armed Forces community. It’s something we’re incredibly proud of and will continue building on this work in the years ahead.
