Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market
There is nothing more undeniably magical about Christmas markets than the festive atmosphere you feel as soon as you walk through an entrance of a thousand lights. I couldn’t think of a better way to start off the most wonderful time of year than to visit what is known as one of the best Christmas markets in Europe – nestled within the grounds of Winchester Cathedral.
With its unique location there are 100 wooden chalet stalls known for attracting people from all over the world to indulge in hand-picked high-quality exhibitors with stalls ranging from arts and crafts to the cheesiest potatoes. They really are worth the wait! Not to mention the smell of caramelised nuts filling the air, gooey cheese toasties and all the brownie flavours you can imagine – all whilst sipping on a warm mulled wine infused with citrus fruits and spices…some may say it counts as one of your five a day!
Whilst you are visiting make sure you wrap up warm with a coat and scarf… or in my case and an umbrella, and head inside the 1000-year-old cathedral to hear a mixture of carol services from their well-known and talked about choir. Visiting the market is a must this year, the market is open from the 17th November to the 21st December 2023.
