We hosted an exciting launch party on Thursday 3rd November at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard’s Boathouse 4 restaurant, to celebrate its reopening.
From local social media influencers to Hampshire Live and Portsmouth News, over 60 guests attended the special event for a sneak preview of the new menu, created by our chef partner, Ruth Hansom.
Guests were greeted with Ellis English sparkling wine on arrival and sampled a selection of canapes and bowl bites created by Ruth and our talented team of female chefs.
Tasters included cauliflower soup with Granny Smith, tarragon and hazelnut; wild mushroom risotto and roast Norfolk chicken with hispi cabbage, bacon, and Lord of the Hundreds. Sweet treats proved popular amongst guests, with dark chocolate panna cotta, lemon posset with blackberry and thyme, and spiced mulled pear with ginger cake.
Gosport-based supplier Powder Monkey Brewing Co. showcased their Drop Anchor pale ale and Drunken Sailor stout, which are used as ingredients throughout the new menu.
Regional managing director, Sarah Miller commented: “Ruth is a hugely accomplished chef in our industry and we’re very privileged to have her expertise and talent behind the new menu at Boathouse 4, which really celebrates the best in Hampshire produce. Ruth joined us as chef partner earlier this year and has become a valued mentor for female chefs in our business. As a woman leader in hospitality, I am passionate about championing women in our industry and it’s fantastic to have our head chef Charlie and her strong female team in Portsmouth leading the way, as you can see from the incredible food showcased today”.
Social media influencer, Love Southsea commented: “We have had a lovely afternoon at Boathouse 4 tasting the amazing talent that is Ruth Hansom! We will definitely be back”.
Ruth is also launching the very first Boathouse 4 Supper Club, the first being during Fairtrade Fortnight on 23 February 2023. The ticketed events will run monthly and give guests an opportunity to sample themed menus, focussed on supporting local suppliers.
Boathouse 4 will reopen its doors to the public on 10th November for lunch and afternoon tea bookings. Dishes featured include South coast cod served with warm tartar sauce and scraps, and lamb rump with Autumn squash, pickled mushroom and juniper sauce.
The restaurant will be open from 12:00-14:30 for lunch and 14:30 – 16:30 for afternoon tea. You can make a reservation here.
