WSH Chairman Wins Cateys 2021: Lifetime Achievement Award

We are delighted to share that our chairman, Alastair Storey, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Cateys 2021, the hospitality industry’s equivalent of the Oscars.

Recognised as “an unstinting champion of the hospitality industry”, Alastair is a tireless champion for our industry, with a passion for promoting hospitality to the next generation of young talent. He is also chairman of hospitality charity Springboard, Trustee of the Gold Service Scholarship, a governor of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts and patron of the Edge Hotel School.

Noel Mahony, WSH executive director, commented: “I know how much this award will mean to Alastair. He has been an inspiration to so many and his love of hospitality and our people is what drives him. He is deeply passionate about training and development and truly committed to ensuring that hospitality is seen as a great career with clear pathways to success.

“His own personal investment in programmes such as the Gold Service Scholarship and working assiduously as chairman of Springboard to promote the sector and develop people’s careers is what makes him stand out. On behalf of everyone past and present in the WSH family I would like to congratulate Alastair as a very worthy recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Now in its 37th year, the prestigious awards and gala dinner, run by hospitality magazine, The Caterer, was held at Grosvenor House. The Awards recognise the individual trailblazers and innovative companies, rewarding those who have gone above and beyond.
