Obsessed Event

BaxterStorey launches Obsessed

This week saw the launch of Obsessed, celebrating the ground breakers, taste makers and industry shakers, who go above and beyond to create exceptional food experiences for our customers every day.

The unique event took place at The Gherkin, London and welcomed guests, clients, and colleagues to experience our obsession with great food and hospitality.

Our culinary rising stars, Ivano, Stephen, Alex, Raymond and Hannah, created some incredible canapes for everyone to enjoy including Cornish Coronation crab crumpets, lemon and wild garlic Spring tartlets, Lake District Farmer’s Sheep of North Ronaldsay Tartare, blue grey beef tartlet tacos and strawberry and almond sables.

Inspired by seasonal ingredients, guests were treated to bold bowl food bites, exclusively designed by our chef partners, Adam Byatt, Kirk Haworth, Ruth Hansom and Josh Eggleton.

Starting with warm semi smoked salmon, buttermilk beurre blanc, English asparagus, cured egg yolk and N25 Oscietra from Adam, guests enjoyed lightly smoked tomatoes, seaweed caviar, house ricotta and tomato essence seasoned with its own vine from Kirk. Josh served a delicious venison, yeast roast carrot and broccoli, with Ruth bringing some theatre with her Yorkshire rhubarb, fennel, and white chocolate, topped with candyfloss.

Our CEO, Ronan Harte announced the exciting news of Dan Fellows, two times’ World Coffee in Good Spirits Champion and UK Barista Champion, who will be joining us as our first ever Beverage Consultant.

We are also delighted to be welcoming back Jana Slamova as our Head of Coffee Development, who will be responsible for the training of our baristas through our Barista Academy, as well as developing our beverage offer with a focus on morning, noon and night.

Crowds gathered at the bar, where coffee duo Dan and Jana were shaking things up with their Obsessed espresso martinis, Kyusgiki (Japanese old fashioned) and Cascara elderflower spritz.

The event concluded with our Chef Academy graduation, as fifteen of our talented chef brigade celebrated a successful twelve months on the Academy.

Commenting on the event, CEO Ronan Harte said: “This event was a celebration of hospitality, a celebration of what the best of hospitality brings – which is great food, great people, great service and most importantly, some fun. I am excited about what our chef partners are going to bring to BaxterStorey – and now with the added appointment of Dan and Jana we see our business going from strength to strength.”

WSH chairman, Alastair Storey said: “What a joy to be here tonight, doing what we love best – having fun, looking after each other, entertaining and enjoying great food. I am incredibly proud of you all. Tonight, has shown what really is at the heart of our business – people, and you can’t have good people if you don’t invest in training and development. It’s all about giving people the opportunity to fly”.
